It seems that there is a new threat to society and it doesn't come from the middle east or the government - rather it comes from the sea. The more frequent occurrence of "Algae Booms" that are occurring in numerous lakes, rivers, and seas propose big problems for creatures in the water, and the humans surrounding them.
The term "Algae Boom" refers to the rapid increase in algae occurring in a certain body of water that causes many changes in its surrounding environment. These algae booms happen due to changes in climate, use of resources by humans, and land use.
The various implications with this is the harm it could cause to the environment and people around them. The increase in algae in a body of water can lead to highly toxic algae's that serve to poison the shellfish and other fish throughout the water. This could cause fish to die and the seafood that we regularly eat could become highly poisonous. Thus, algae booms cause a great disruption in the ecosystem around them.
